What should we wear during a photoshoot?

Ideally, it’s best to wear something that is comfortable and makes you feel your best. Clothing inspires confidence, and confidence translates into stunning photos that capture the best representation of you. There are, however, a few things to note.

Stay away from clothing with large logos. Loud colors, while they stand out, can create an unwanted color cast on yourself or other members of the group.

Watch out for outfits that might clash. Rather than match perfectly, think of having everyone wear something that goes together in a natural yet not overly obvious way.
Solid neutrals are a good choice. I’ve typically found that solid neutral colors work best for parents, while kids can wear prints, but avoid graphic tees - they tend to stand out too much, taking the focus off the kids and the timelessness of the photo. If you can, avoid prints with tight repeating patterns. They have a tendency to create an unwanted moire in the photograph that is hard if not impossible to remove in photoshop.

Be authentic. Most importantly, wear something that authentically reflects who you are while at the same time inspiring confidence.

What locations work best for a photoshoot in Dallas?

Red Oak, Waxahachie and Dallas-Fort Worth Texas are full of amazing locations. There is so much natural beauty and so many walkways, buildings, and parks. You almost can’t go wrong. Yet, when selecting a location, try to find a spot that isn’t cluttered and means something to you. If you always go to specific park or area, that might be the perfect place to start.

What time works best for a photoshoot?

Outdoor sessions are best scheduled for the morning and evening in order to take advantage of the soft flattering lighting conditions that are typical of those times. You will often hear this referred to as "golden hour". If you are wandering what time that will be when you are planning your session, a quick Google search will tell you the exact time "golden hour" will be on the day you are thinking about scheduling.

If "golden hour" doesn't work for you, get in touch and let's work together to find a time and location that'll provide you with the most flattering photographs.

Indoor family sessions and headshots can take place most anytime. Large windows for indoor family sessions are a plus, but not necessary. I have my own lights and modifiers I'll bring to your in home family, portrait or headshot session. My lights and modifiers allow for the most flattering light in any situation.

Can I print the photos myself?

Yes. You will receive full reproduction rights to the images you receive as a part of your package, which you can print at any photo lab you choose. If you do print using a lab of your choice, it is recommended you choose one that will provide quality prints. Don't just look for the cheapest. The old adage "you get what you pay for" holds true when printing.
